The Seeds of Love is the third album by Tears for Fears, released on September 12, 1989. The album was a commercial success, reaching number one in the UK and number two in the US. It went triple platinum in the UK and quintuple platinum in the US. The album spawned four singles, including the UK number one hits "Sowing the Seeds of Love" and "Woman in Chains". The album was recorded at The Farm recording studio in Surrey, England and produced by Chris Hughes and Tears for Fears. The band's songwriting collaboration broke up at that time and Roland Orzabal wrote most of the songs himself. The album has a much more electronic sound than their previous two albums and features a number of guest musicians, including Oleta Adams, who provides backing vocals on the track "Woman in Chains".
