On November 2, legendary metal band Metallica will release the remastered album ...And Justice For All, which first saw the light of day exactly thirty years ago in 1988 and became the first underground metal album whose singles topped the US mainstream charts. The album spent 83 weeks at number six on the Billboard 200 chart, sold over 8 million copies, was certified eight times platinum and was the band's best-selling album to date. The fourth album was the first to feature new bassist Jason Newsted since Cliff Burton's death in 1986. The album contains long, complex songs whose lyrics deal with political and legal injustices viewed through such lenses as censorship, war and nuclear issues. The album cover artwork was designed by Stephen Gorman, who bounced off designs by guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. The album title is an excerpt from the American Pledge of Allegiance.The remastered version of ...And Justice For All will be available in several digital and physical versions. Physically, the album will be available as a standard LP, CD, MC, limited deluxe box set and digitally, the album will be available for purchase as a standard LP and digital deluxe box. The extended versions include previously unreleased demo recordings and live tracks, rough mixes and previously unseen photos by Ross Halfin. The limited edition deluxe box set will then include remastered LPs, picture CDs, 3 LPs featuring footage of the iconic 1989 Seattle performance, 11 CDs, 4 DVDs, a photo book with stories and much more.Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich along with guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and in over thirty years of existence has become one of the most influential and commercially successful bands.
