In 1993, he released the album "Facing Future", which included, among other things, a cover of the legendary hit "Over The Rainbow" in addition to his home songs. His stunning and moving rendition of this song has been used in many successful Hollywood films and various TV commercials over the years. Angelia Jolie, Sean Connery, Drew Barrymore and the legendary singer Paul Simon have all professed a great affinity for his music. But in the past year, a real mania has developed around the song from fans and currently the song has exceeded two million legal downloads worldwide. The song has been even more successful in neighbouring Germany. There, the song "Over The Rainbow" topped the sales singles chart for several weeks... Israel's albums went platinum late last year in Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK. It is a great pity that singer Israel "IZ" Ka'ano'i Kamakawiwo'ole himself did not live to see this success. He has unfortunately struggled all his life with a huge overweight, which became fatal for him in 1997...
